CHESS TOURNAMENT IN HONOR OF THE NIS YOUTH DAY

Under the motto "Towards Nis Youth Day" in Palilula Municipality, in the primary school "King Peter", was organized the traditional chess tournament for the students of primary and secondary schools. It was an opportunity for some competitors to try out themselves for the first time in this competition, while for some, but experienced competitors, this was a good exercise before big competitions.

Chess sports competition, prepared by the Chess Federation of the Nisava District in the cooperation with the Office for Youth and under the auspices of Palilula and the Youth Council of the City of Nis, was opened by president Boban Džunić. Symbolically, he made a move on the chessboard, with a young competitor.

"Our current project activities are focused in the area of promotion of sports development in educational institutions. Chess is a sport that is very popular among young people, it does not require a big investment, but it has an important role in the mental and physical children emphasized president Džunić.

Support to the Palilula Office for Youth in this sporting activity is an example of good cooperation of our community with the civil sector, said Milos Stojiljkovic member of the Municipal Council, retained for youth activities. Ivana Jovic, Coordinator of Youth Office Palilula indicated that with this event, which is part of the celebration of the Youth Day in the City of Nis, Palilula Municipality promotes healthy lifestyles.

The forces in this thinking discipline was weighed by more than 50 young participants from Nis, Smederevo, Vlasotince, Paracin. According to Igor Lukic, President of the Chess Federation of Nisava District, this is the third consecutive year with the support of Palilula Municipality school break ends with chess tournament for students of primary and secondary schools. Nis has a very talented young chess players, and among these kids are champions of Europe and Serbia, said Lukic.

The tournament was held in elementary school "Kralj Petar", in three age groups, for young people up to 18 years of age, according to the Swiss system, in seven rounds of play with pace of 15 minutes per player for the game.

On the occasion of the Youth Day in the City of Nis - September 1, after this chess competition, a team of the Office for Youth of Palilula will receive new work space in Rudnicka street.
